In this case involving a fall from a ladder, Hausman & Pendzick successfully petitioned the court, pre-trial, to hold the applicable parties responsible. When the settlement numbers offered pre-trial were not sufficient to cover our client’s significant injuries, Hausman & Pendzick then proceeded to trial in Suffolk County Supreme Court, where large verdicts and settlements tend to be a rarity. Eventually, Hausman & Pendzick negotiated a $7.8 million dollar settlement for the plaintiff’s damages, including his pain and suffering and economic loss, just before the case was to be submitted to a jury. Hausman & Pendzick’s success was largely due to the retainment of the appropriate expert witnesses to support a large verdict, the firm’s trial experience, and the trial attorney, Jay Hausman’s skills at cross-examination. When the jury was polled after the case settled, the jury advised that, if the case had proceeded to them for decision, they similarly would have awarded a high amount in damages.
